Aquaman is a proud king and he takes his responsibility to protect his people very seriously. He has little liking or trust for “land-dwellers”, people who are different to him. When the Justice League reaches out, his lack of trust leads him to reject their help.
There is a coup, his son is kidnapped and a terrible weapon is activated. Aquaman is able to save his son but the other obstacles are simply too big for one man alone – even a superpowered one. Realising the Justice League was genuine in their offer of help, he learns to trust them and all ends well.
A team who doesn’t trust each other is not a team – it’s a bunch of people running around doing random stuff.
Trust may take time to build and you often have to earn it, but it is a worthy investment of our time. A great team will approach each other wanting to trust and will work individually and together to build and protect the trust between them.
