Mentoring & Coaching

Explore yourself, design action that works for you, lead others, reach your potential

What is a Mentor?

A mentor is someone who is in your corner – part-cheerleader, part-coach. Mentorship can take many forms but, ultimately, a mentor is someone who is invested in you – helping you with your career and life goals.

Why does Mentorship matter?

Everyone needs support.  No matter how awesome and talented you are, there will be times when you need a bit of extra help.  A mentor can be that help for you.  They can offer support, listen, share experiences, give advice, advocate for you and connect you with people and resources.

How can a Mentor help you?

  • help you see the larger picture
  • offer a different perspective
  • help identify smaller steps towards your greater goal
  • provide encouragement and guidance
  • find learning opportunities
  • and so many other things!

How has my Mentor helped me?

I have worked with a few different mentors over my working life and each one has helped me in unique ways.  Some mentors have become good friends, some have provided the truth bombs I needed to hear and some have walked beside me every step of a journey.  Each mentor has been their own rewarding and special experience.

Mentoring – this is how you…

  • Move your career forward with accountability to get there
  • Learn about yourself – your drives, motivations, strengths – to propel yourself further
  • Broaden your knowledge, skills, experience and network by drawing upon all my resources
  • Build a toolbox to adapt, grow and thrive
  • Design success YOUR way
  • Figure out how to keep going when you get stuck and create the life and career of your dreams

Initial 75-minute strategy call: We’ll meet (virtually) to get to know each other, solidify your specific goal, power you up by delving into your ‘why-power’ and design an action plan to get you to your destination.  The plan will be YOURS – created from scratch, melding together your work, life, limitations and dreams to set you up for success.

Monthly 60-minute check-in calls: Over our 3 months together, we will check-in regularly to assess and reassess your action plan and how it’s working for you specifically.  We’ll also tackle roadblocks (both tactical and mental), build the skills to break goals down and look ahead to set ourselves up for continued AND repeatable success.

Unlimited Voice Messaging: As your coach I’m here and with you for the whole journey.  So, in between check-in calls, you’ll hear from me and I’m available to you.  Answering questions, cheering your on, providing encouragement, sharing inspiring (and funny) tidbits, keeping you accountable and giving a pep talk when needed.

FAQs

Great question!

Simply put, a coach provides guidance to a client on their goals and helps them reach their full potential.  Think of a coach as being more focused and directed, aiming to help you achieve a specific performance goal.

A mentor is someone who shares their knowledge, skills and/or experience, to help another to develop and grow.  A mentor takes a more holistic approach, focusing on overall personal and career development over a longer stretch of time.

You don’t have to do everything at once, all at the same time.  It can be tempting, but not sustainable.  In the coaching offer, we focus on one specific goal during our time working together.  In a mentoring relationship, it is likely we will tackle a few goals simultaneously.

In both paths, a key element is building a toolbox of strategies that sets you up for continued and repeatable success, during our time together and beyond.

No.  I understand.  I get it.  Life happens.  Even if it’s 5 minutes before the session and you can’t make it, let me know and we’ll reschedule.  I never want you to feel extra pressure or to be penalised for your limitations and life.

Absolutely! My main goal is to provide you with consistent and readily available help, support and guidance.  If voice messages are not your fave, we can choose another method that works best for you.

Not at all!  There is a common misconception that coaching/mentoring is for when we are stumbling, when something is going wrong and we need to fix it.  The full potential of a mentor is realized when you see that it’s about growth, exploration, experimentation and unlocking your potential.  You don’t have to be currently facing an obstacle to benefit from having a mentor or coach.  If you are facing a challenge, then a mentor can certainly help you, but they are not limited to that.  My best mentoring experiences have actually been when I am succeeding – those have been the times when a mentor has truly helped me to unlock the next level.

Think of it like a video game – a mentor can help you to get through the level you’re on AND they can help you to unlock all the secret, bonus extras to really level up your game.
